Limited-Time Only Announcement Special Sale — Free Official Team Jersey with Purchase of $99 Season Ticket!

December 13, 2024 (Peoria, AZ) Women’s Premier Soccer League (“WPSL”) announced today it has awarded a new women’s soccer expansion team to be based in the West Valley.  The new team will play its matches at the 10,000-seat Peoria Sports Complex. The professional sports venue, which currently serves as the spring training home to Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, will be transformed each season into a soccer configuration following completion of the Arizona Cactus League.

Today’s announcement marks further growth for women’s sports within the Phoenix metropolitan market.  Currently the third largest market in the country without a major league women’s soccer team it has one of the highest participation levels for girls’ soccer in the United States.  This creates a tangible void related to women’s sports opportunities in the state — one which Arizona Women’s Soccer Club is excited to play a role in helping to solve in the years ahead.

As such, it is also being announced today that fans are invited to help name the team by submitting their ideas at ArizonaWomensSoccer.com.  Decisions to be made by local fans include whether to embrace a more “soccer traditional” name (e.g., F.C., United, etc.), to adapt a more hyper-local name (e.g., such as the Suns, Sun Devils & Diamondbacks have chosen to do) or, perhaps, come up with something totally unique & innovative!  The team will provide updates throughout the submission process to continually solicit fan feedback with the official name & logo expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2025.

In addition, for a limited time only, fans can receive a free official team jersey with the purchase of a season ticket which is affordably priced at only $99 — immediately making it the best value in Arizona sports!  Fans can purchase now at ArizonaWomensSoccer.com

“Peoria Sports Complex is thrilled to become the new home of a Women’s Premier Soccer League team. Today’s announcement is yet another demonstration of our City’s desire to be the premier destination for family entertainment in the West Valley” said Mike Hyland, Superintendent at Peoria Sports Complex.  “Our stadium is a community asset that provides year-round opportunities to host numerous events and adding women’s soccer fits perfectly into our strategic plans.  We are excited to welcome soccer fans of all ages to our stadium next year.”

Peoria Sports Complex is located in the heart of the P83 District which is surrounded by countless dining, shopping & family activities — making it one of the premier destinations for a night out in the West Valley.

“It is an exciting time for Peoria, as we welcome a new women’s soccer team to our community!,” said Rhonda Carlson, President & CEO of the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.  “As someone that has personally experienced the positive benefits that sports can provide, I look forward to engaging our community to showcase and help name the team and promote the upcoming season as another great entertainment experience for our residents to enjoy. Women’s sports are where it’s at these days, and I am thrilled that we will have a local opportunity to engage our young girls to get involved with the sport.”

Arizona Women’s Soccer Club is committed to creating a fun match day experience at affordable prices providing a unique opportunity to experience the world’s most popular sport right here in our community.  Further, the team is committed to allocating a certain number of roster spots focused on providing player development opportunities for Arizona-based players in the early stages of their career.  More details on these initiatives will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2025 WPSL season kicks off in May 2025.  The team’s schedule is expected to be announced in early Spring.
