Women’s Premier Soccer League is an independent minor league women’s soccer league. The National Women’s Soccer League is a major league women’s soccer league. Both leagues are affiliated with the U.S. Soccer Federation, but the two leagues are separate legal entities. However, there are several NWSL Reserve League teams that compete in WPSL (e.g., Kansas City Current II, Portland Thorns FC II, Seattle Reign FC II, etc.).
Let’s hope so! We would be proud to play a role in further demonstrating how great of a future National Women’s Soccer League market that Arizona can be. Our club is fully supportive of any future initiative to seek a new NWSL team in Arizona. For context, there is a long list of current Major League Soccer teams that originally started as minor league teams (e.g., Portland, Seattle, Orlando, St. Louis, Minnesota, etc., etc.) — and we hope to blaze a similar path on the women’s side of the sport.
Yes. It is currently done in multiple stadiums across the U.S., including with Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees and Major League Soccer’s New York City FC sharing Yankee Stadium. Numerous other minor league baseball & men’s minor league soccer teams have shared facilities, including in Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Memphis, Omaha & Tulsa (just to name a few!).
We live in one of the largest (and fastest growing) metro areas in the U.S. & Canada without a major league women’s soccer team. Our time is now!

The stadium also has a previous history of hosting professional soccer matches.
